What do you think happened between David and Elizabeth Shaw in "Alien: Covenant"?

My answer to this question

I’m not sure what exactly happened, but I’m still cranky at how wrong they did Shaw.

I like Shaw. I saw her as the “heir to Ripley”. She wasn’t perfect, but she was suiting.

I looked forward to seeing what would happen with her, and with the Engineer planet.

And what do we get? We get them pulling a Newt with her, killing her between movies. Either David killed her and experimented on her, or experimented on her and she died through his experiments.

I found it frustrating. She was the one who treated him best - treated him like a person - and that happened?!

Also the planet getting scrubbed of Engineers by David was blah. Maybe if it ended with that, but instead we got closer to what felt like a generic Alien movie with people making dumb decisions.
